HAIKOU - a symposium on maritime cooperation and management of the oceans was held in Haikou, capital of the island of south China's Hainan province.

Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, former President of the Philippines, said in a speech during the opening ceremony on Thursday that the relationship between the Philippines and China is of great importance and that the symposium should contribute the community with a shared future that is connected by the oceans.

It is extremely important to analyze the challenges of global governance of the oceans to promote sustainable marine development, especially during the epidemic.
